Ultra Portable Device Theft

February 7th, 2008 · No Comments

I’m reminded of two simple yet effective ways to prevent theft of ultra portable devices… (i.e., Ipod, GPS, Cell Phone, etc…) as the NPR Technology podcast notes to prevent theft is to take these devices out of your vehicle if you plan to be away from it from any length of time and register your GPS device with the manufacturer — or even write down the serial number.. While this might seem obvious or even common sense to most people, it’s amazing how many people still leave these items in their vehicle unattended in open view for thieves. Leaving expensive items in view just places a target on your vehicle and will tempt thieves to steel it.

To quote the podcast:

“Some crime experts believe portable GPS systems and iPods are crimogenic — that is, they can actually create crimes.”
