GPhone Prototype

Android GPhone

I’m not sure if this is what the GPhone will look like when it goes to retail, as this is only the first official prototype that was seen today at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Apparently this prototype is running on Texas Instruments hardware, but I’m willing to bet that the Android platform will make up for any shortcoming in the design of the phone. I’m looking forward to seeing how much this phone gets adopted by mass market. I can honestly say from the photo above I’m not that overly excited by the design.

A video clip from the Mobile World Congress demos the device (…sort of), but from what I can see, it isn’t any different than what’s on shelves now, of course the video quality is not that great so it’s hard to tell. In the coming days I’m sure there’ll be much better coverage emerging on the web.
