A pull-cord generator which is being produced and tested by a company named Potenco based in Alameda California displays potential as being an impressive human powered generator. According to a company spokesman just one minute of pulling a string through the generator would be enough to power to allow a cell phone to operate for up to twenty minutes, or equivalent to 25 watts of electricity for twenty minutes. I can see where this would be a nice fit for LED lighting, it seems the only issue at this point though is the cost factor, especially when the Potenco is targeting third world countries.
